Q. I’ve been fingerprinted before; do I still
need to be fingerprinted again?
A. Yes. Based on the way the law was established,
you must be fingerprinted by any employing agency or certification
agency (for example the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing).
It is against the law for different agencies to share confidential
fingerprint results with each other.

Q. I don’t have a teaching credential, but
I want to teach. What do I need to do?
A. You need to apply for a credential through
the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). Per
California laws, all teachers must hold a valid teaching credential
or permit. Our district will review all applicants who hold valid
teaching credentials first and then will look at applicants who
do not hold valid teaching credentials. IF we do not find a qualified
applicant who holds a valid teaching credential, we will work
with someone without one to see if they qualify for an intern
or pre-intern certificate.

Q. I have a credential issued from another state
(other than California). What do I need to do?
A. Most out-of-state credentials qualify an
applicant under AB 877 to receive a California Preliminary Credential.
For further information on what is required for this process,
please contact the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
(CCTC). Their phone number is (916) 445-7254 or toll free at
(888) 921-2682. Their web site is located at www.ctc.ca.gov.

Q. I’m enrolled in a credentialing program
to get my single-subject credential, but I’m not finished
yet. Can I get hired by your district?
A. Per California laws, all teachers must
hold a valid teaching credential or permit. Again, our district
first reviews applicants who hold valid teaching credentials. IF we
do not have a qualified applicant with a valid credential, we
will review applicants who do not hold valid credentials to see
if they qualify for an intern or pre-intern certificate.

Q. I’ve submitted my application through Ed-Join
on-line to your district, but I did not scan my credential
and other Required Materials. Is this a problem?
A. Yes. As with a hard copy application, applications
need to be submitted in full. Please do not submit your application
until you are fully prepared to do so with all Required Materials
scanned and sent simultaneously.
Q. What if I don’t have a scanner?
A. You are able to amend your application prior
to the closing deadline. A computer work station with scanner
is available at our offices and various other locations, such
as Kinkos, Mailboxes, etc., recruitment centers, and public libraries.
Q. When will my application be screened?
A. Applications are screened following the
closing date. When we are able to determine viable openings for
particular subject areas, we will screen those applications.
As master schedules are finalized, we will continue the screening
process with remaining subject areas.
Q. If I am not selected for an interview, will I
be notified?
A. Unfortunately, due to the number of applications
received, only those candidates selected for an interview will
be contacted.
