Program Overview: Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)
Program
The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program provides challenging
curriculum and instruction to students capable of achieving significantly
beyond the level of their peers. Students in the Roseville Joint
Union High School District are served primarily through activities
and materials in their honors and advanced placement classes. Important
components of the GATE program at each site include communication
among GATE teachers, parental involvement, staff development and
increased opportunities and outcomes for GATE students.
GATE activities are outlined each year in an annual plan based
on the recommended standards for Gifted and Talented Students.
These standards address program design, identificaion of students,
curriculum and instruction, social and emotional development, professional
development of staff, parent and community involvement and program
assessment.
Goals for the 2006-07 school year include:
- Increasing access to GATE information through
District and Site web sites.
- Planning for the 2007-08 Categorical Program Monitoring
(CPM).
- Support for Honors/AP classes.
- Increase accuracy and use of student data system for
differentiation, identification and intervention.
For more information on GATE activities in the Roseville Joint
Union High School District, contact the school site GATE Coordinator
