Independence High School has increased its efforts in identification and assessment of GATE students. Seniors are encouraged to attend the college and scholarship nights that are held at various locations within the Roseville Joint Union High School District.

Independence High School continues to offer strong college preparation courses to students in our district who actively seek the individualized instruction. The IHS facility at 125 Berry Street has a computer lab and open-access computers for students who choose to work throughout their school day. IHS also offers online courses to students who opt for enhanced and/or higher-level academic coursework.

The GATE program at IHS continues to identify, support, and individualize instruction for the gifted and talented students attending IHS. The students have the option of participating in Accelerated College Entrance programs at CSUS and Sierra College, as well as enrolling in the online AP and college preparatory courses administered through the Blackboard Learning System. Currently the IHS faculty offers more than 12 courses online and expects to offer additional courses next fall.
