WorkAbility Program
The WorkAbility Program provides comprehensive pre-employment
job skills training, job placement and follow-up for high
school students in Special Education, who are making the
transition from school to work, independent living and
post secondary education or training. The program has been
recognized as one of the 10 best transition programs of
its type in the nation. This program is available at all
the schools within the Roseville Joint Union High School
District.
The funding comes in the form of a grant from the federal
government that is administered through the California
State Department of Education. The program is a joint effort
among schools, community agencies and private industry
to help students make the transition from school to the
world of work.
Our goal is to place students on a job site monitored
by a WorkAbility staff member until the student meets the
employer's expectations and is able to continue independently
on the job. This process will help to ensure a successful
and positive experience for all involved.
Employment opportunities are selected to coincide with
the student's skills, abilities and motivation. Students
will be carefully chosen and trained in transition-to-work
skills prior to independent placement.
Final determination for placement will be made after work
readiness assessments, and evaluations by the WorkAbility
staff, student's teachers and/or counselor. We are also
available to assist the student who is already employed
with any and all on-the-job related issues.
